Move-Out Cleaning Checklist for Winnipeg Renters

A practical checklist to prepare a rental for handover without missing kitchens, bathrooms or access details.

Moving day is busy enough without discovering a dirty cupboard at the final walkthrough. Plan the cleaning after furniture and boxes are out, when every room is easier to reach.

Before the cleaners arrive

  • Remove personal belongings and rubbish.
  • Confirm the date and time of the walkthrough.
  • Ask your landlord or property manager for any specific checklist.
  • Arrange keys, parking, building access, water and electricity.
  • Photograph any pre-existing damage for your own records.

Kitchen

Empty and wipe cupboards if they are included in your plan. Clean counters, sink, backsplash, appliance exteriors and accessible floors. Inside the fridge and oven often takes extra time, so request it explicitly when booking.

Bathrooms

Check sinks, taps, mirrors, toilet, shower or tub, tile and floors. Hard-water marks and old grout staining can need extra effort and may not fully disappear in one visit.

Every other room

Dust reachable shelves and windowsills, wipe baseboards where requested, remove cobwebs, and vacuum or mop accessible floors. Check closets and storage spaces after the main rooms are finished.

Walk through the property one last time with your checklist. A cleaner can work to your stated priorities, but only the property manager can decide whether the handover meets their standard. Explore move-out cleaning or request an appointment.
